One of Japan's three great strange festivals. It is the annual grand festival of both Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Asama Shrine and its auxiliary Suwa Shrine, held over two days: the Chinka-sai (fire-quelling rite) on August 26 and the Susuki-matsuri (pampas grass festival) the following day, August 27.
