This is a Shinto ritual in which kazariyama (decorated floats) called yamakasa are dedicated at Kushida Shrine, known as the chief guardian shrine of Hakata, and it has been designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan. Every year during the festival period from July 1 to 15, the dedication of the yamakasa and the oiyama, in which the floats race along a set route, take place.

About 5 minutes on foot from Gion Station on the Fukuoka City Subway, or about 8 minutes on foot from Nakasu-Kawabata Station.
