🏮 Shimosa Miyama no Shichinen Matsuri

Shimousa Mitsuyama no Nananen Matsuri is a yoriai festival held every seven years by the traditional count, in the Years of the Ox and the Sheep, centered on Ninomiya Shrine in Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture. At the September small festival, a mikoshi (portable shrine) procession and kagura performance are held, and at the November grand festival, the mikoshi of nine shrines gather and rituals related to safe childbirth take place. It is designated a prefectural intangible folk cultural property and has a tradition dating back to the Muromachi period.
Getting there
From Tsudanuma Station on the JR Sobu Line, take a bus bound for Ninomiya Shrine stop (20 minutes). From Keisei Okubo Station on the Keisei Main Line, walk 7 minutes to the Nihon University College of Industrial Technology stop, or take a bus and get off at Ninomiya Shrine stop (5 minutes). Note: for the return trip, get off at Okubo Kousatsu stop. From Yakuendai Station on the Keisei Matsudo Line, walk 3 minutes to the Yakuendai Station Entrance stop, then take a bus and get off at Ninomiya Shrine stop (10 minutes).
