This is the collective name for the Honjuku Gion Festival in July and the Shinjuku Autumn Festival in October, held in the central area of Sawara, Katori City, Chiba Prefecture, and is one of the three great float festivals of the Kanto region. While playing Sawara Bayashi, one of Japan's three great festival music traditions, yamaboko (festival floats) are pulled through streets known as Little Edo, in a festival with about 300 years of tradition.

Getting there

Get off at Sawara Station on the JR Narita Line. From Tokyo Station, about 110 minutes by rapid train; from Chiba Station, about 70 minutes via the Sobu Main Line and Narita Line. By car, about 10 minutes from Sawara-Katori IC on the Higashi-Kanto Expressway.
