A traditional festival held every spring and autumn in Takayama, Gifu Prefecture. In spring it centers on Hie Shrine and in autumn on Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, with ornate yatai (festival floats) parading through the streets. The floats feature karakuri (mechanical puppets), and the festival is registered as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
