The Ogaki Jumangoku Festival is held every year on the second Sunday of October around Ogaki Station street in Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture. It originated as the annual festival of Tokoha Shrine, and today it centers on the mikoshi (portable shrine) procession from that shrine, with a variety of events unfolding in the city center. From the Taisho era, yamaboko (festival floats) and mikoshi were paraded as the "Ogaki Autumn Festival" to coincide with Tokoha Shrine's annual festival on September 25 each year, but this was interrupted due to the Pacific War. It was resumed in 1956 (Showa 31) as the "Jumangoku Festival." Highlights include the mikoshi procession from Tokoha Shrine, as well as the "Jumangoku Furusato Festival," in which mikoshi for children, adults, and companies parade. In addition, the Ogaki Castle matchlock gun corps demonstration, the Yoro tobi ladder climbing, the Jumangoku dance and folk dance exchange gathering, and other events take place on Ogaki Station street, and a mochi-throwing event is also held at Tokoha Shrine. The liveliness led by the chamber of commerce, including direct sales of sweets and charity sales by local shops, is another feature.
