Narume no Kojin Narume no Fudo Naritasan Narume Fudo is a year-end event held every year on December 28 at Naritasan Shinshoji Temple in Narita City, Chiba Prefecture. It is also commonly called Narume no Fudo, and carries the meaning of giving thanks for a safe year and praying for safety in the new year. At Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, a Narume no Goma ceremony is solemnly performed on this day, and many worshippers visit as a way of closing out the year. In the temple grounds, a fire is lit to burn gomagi (wooden prayer sticks), and while watching the flames, visitors can purify the sins and impurities of the year. Along the approach to the temple, street stalls line up, and it thrives as a year-end seasonal sight. This event is established as one of Naritasan Shinshoji Temple's annual events, and it is bustling with local people and tourists.
