Daikyo-sai is a historic festival held at Katori Shrine in Katori, Chiba Prefecture. Its origins are old, and it is said to have continued since the Nara period as a regular festival of the shrine, centered on Shinto rituals praying for a good harvest and the peace of the nation. Its highlights are the solemn offering of kagura and bugaku, and traditional ceremonies such as a warrior procession, allowing visitors to encounter old, good Japanese culture in a sacred atmosphere.
