The Kochi Yosakoi Festival is a summer festival held in Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture, since 1954, and has a form developed from traditional Bon dancing. Participating teams hold naruko (clappers) and dance to music and choreography that allows free arrangement. Today it has spread throughout the country, and every year from August 9 to 12, the main festival, eve festival, and national competition are held.
