Yamada no Haru Matsuri is the annual festival of Kojō Shrine in Yamada, Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture. It is known as the spring festival where yamaboko (festival floats) appear earliest in the Chichibu region, and is also described as the festival that announces the arrival of spring along the Chichibu road. On the day, before 11:00 a.m., three floats — one kasaboko and two yatai — gather in the grounds of Kojō Shrine, and a ceremony is held at Kojō Shrine. In the afternoon, each float heads to Yasaka Shrine, which serves as the otabisho (resting place for the deity), and a ceremony is held there around 3:00 p.m. After that, the floats continue to be pulled, and evening towing is also scheduled.
