Chichibu Yomatsuri is the annual festival of Chichibu Shrine, held in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, from December 1 to 6 each year. December 2 is the eve of the festival and December 3 is the main festival day. It is known nationwide for the pulling of yamaboko (festival floats) decorated with paper lanterns, including kasaboko and yatai, and for its winter fireworks display.

Getting there

Access is via the Chichibu Railway Chichibu Main Line and the Seibu Railway Ikebukuro Line and Seibu Chichibu Line. On the main festival day, December 3, from around 19:00 to 22:00, the Chichibu Railway Chichibu Main Line is suspended between Chichibu and Kagemori, extra trains are operated, and the last train is delayed.
