The Chichibu Shrine Rice Planting Festival is held at Chichibu Shrine in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture. In a rice paddy area created with a sacred rope between the shrine gate and the torii, priests perform the motions of rice planting while singing sacred songs, in a ritual praying for a bountiful harvest. Around 1:00 PM, the ceremony begins at the main hall, followed by a procession to Imamiya Shrine to pray for water. After conducting the Dragon God ritual at Imamiya Shrine, they return to Chichibu Shrine carrying a water offering, and a meal-serving ceremony is held at the worship hall. In the shrine grounds' paddy area, after 3:00 PM, the rice-planting event is performed by priests wearing sedge hats and white robes. The series of rituals moving from the main hall to Imamiya Shrine and to the paddy area within the grounds continues to convey the summer tradition of Chichibu.
