Every year the festival opens on June 24, the date on which Matsuo Basho is said to have visited the site of Taga Castle, and is held at the Taga Castle Ruins Iris Garden near the Taga Castle historic site in the northern part of Taga City. In the garden, visitors can enjoy a total of 3 million irises, including rabbit-ear iris and Japanese iris.

About 5 to 10 minutes on foot from the north exit of Kokufu-Tagajo Station on the JR East Tohoku Main Line / about 15 to 20 minutes on foot from Rikuzen-Sanno Station on the JR East Tohoku Main Line
