The Shiraoi Hachimangu Shrine Reitaisai is an annual festival held in autumn at Shiraoi Hachimangu Shrine in Shiraoi, Shiraoi District, Hokkaido. The shrine began about 350 years ago when Benzaiten was enshrined there, and today it serves as the chief guardian shrine of Shiraoi District, drawing many visitors. Within its grounds are historically valuable materials, including the Hono no Matsu, a Hokkaido Government-designated notable tree around 800 years old, and the Ekaterina no Ema, a town-designated cultural property showing exchange with the Russian Empire. The festival's highlight is the Yosakoi Dairanbu in Shiraoi, held in late September. About 50 teams and 2,500 people gather from all over Hokkaido each year for the YOSAKOI Soran dance, which is second only to the Sapporo festival in scale and fills the shrine grounds with energy. Along with Shinto rituals such as the Yoimiya-sai, it is enjoyed as a festival where local tradition and contemporary energy come together.
