🏮 Shintotsukawa Furusato Matsuri
しんとつかわふるさとまつり
Shintotsukawa, Hokkaido (Shintotsukawa Town Furusato Park Event Plaza) · In 2025, 26–27 July (Eve Festival and Fireworks on 26 July, Main Festival on 27 July)
The Shintotsukawa Furusato Matsuri is a summer festival held at the Furusato Park event plaza in Shintotsukawa Town, Hokkaido. Now in its 37th year, the event has become established as a way for the whole town to enjoy the short summer, and the fireworks display and drone show on the eve of the festival at the Tokachi River riverbed have become a summer tradition in Shintotsukawa. On the day, stages unique to the region are lined up, including a performance of the intangible cultural property Shishi Kagura, the Shintotsukawa Children's Taiko drum group Korin, and a performance by the junior high school brass band. For children, there is an Anpanman show and a unicycle show, and special guest Hoikenta also appears. As a unique event, the Doro (Dei) Bridge Championship is also held, in which participants slide down a roller conveyor and dive into a mud pool. At the venue, food and drink such as Shintotsukawa-produced beef and hamburgers are sold, and a reuse shop is also set up. The event is held even in rain, and offers a full day of enjoyment for families.
