The Sanuma Summer Festival is held in Tome, Miyagi Prefecture. It features a fireworks display of about 3,000 shells launched from the banks of the Hasama River, along with a dedication of the local performing art Sanuma Shishiodori, a teodori parade, yosakoi dance performances, and truck-drawn yamaboko (festival floats). There is also a yukata (light summer kimono) contest and cheerleading performances. The venue is Esfactory Tohoku Nakae Park (in front of the Hasama General Branch Office).
Getting there
About 8 km from Nitta Station on the JR East Tohoku Main Line. About 20 minutes by car from Tome IC on the Sanriku Coastal Road. About 30 minutes by car from Wakayanagi-Kannari IC on the Tohoku Expressway.
