Matsue Suigosai is held in early August on the east shore of Lake Shinji in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture. It is a summer festival organized by the Matsue Suigosai Promotion Council, made up of the city of Matsue, the Matsue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Matsue Tourism Association, and others. Its aims are to showcase the appeal of Matsue as an international cultural and tourism city and to contribute to the development of municipal administration, the promotion of tourism, and the improvement of citizens' welfare. The main attraction is the Lake Fireworks Display. Taking advantage of the beautiful surface of Lake Shinji, fireworks launched from the lake color the night sky and the water, and a drone show can be enjoyed as well. At the venue, stage events called Matsue Dandan and food stalls are also set up, entertaining visitors along with the fireworks. Visitor arrangements such as paid viewing seats, temporary parking lots, and traffic restrictions are also in place.

Getting there

Access to the venue is about a 15-minute walk from JR Matsue Station, or about a 5-minute walk from the Ichibata Bus stop at Kencho-mae. By car, it is about 10 minutes from Matsue Nishi IC on the Sanin Expressway; temporary parking is available (paid, limited number of spaces).
