The Iruma Mantou Festival is held every year around October in Iruma City, Saitama Prefecture. It is a citizen-wide festival organized by the Iruma Mantou Festival Executive Committee. Dashi (festival floats), mikoshi (portable shrines), and hayashi (festival music) groups from across the city gather, making it a beloved autumn tradition that connects old and new residents. The festival was born from the history of Iruma City's two municipal mergers, bringing together various festivals from the former towns and villages before the mergers. The name 'Mantou' comes from the flower hats and lanterns that decorate temple and shrine gates to pray for family safety and health, and expresses the wish to be 'a light that illuminates the footsteps and future of citizens.' Highlights include the 'Iruma Parade' where floats and mikoshi from each group gather in one place, the 'Hikkawase' (float clashes), and mikoshi carrying competitions, as well as over 300 stalls offering local gourmet and international cuisine. At 'Sainomori Iruma Park,' there are attractions for children and a 'Night Fantasy' featuring 2,011 candles.
