The Hokkaido Festival is a summer event held in the Oniwaki fishing port and Oshidomari port town areas of Rishirifuji, Hokkaido. It takes place at two locations: the Oniwaki venue, known as the largest event in the Oniwaki area, and the Oshidomari venue, a major summer event on Rishiri Island. At the Oniwaki venue, there are games such as taoshi-pong and boat races, food stalls, and local specialties for sale. At the Oshidomari venue, the roads in the port town area become a pedestrian zone, and sea urchin rice bowls, grilled seafood, and souvenir specialties are offered at exceptional prices. Both venues offer a variety of programs, including events for children and song shows.
Getting there
Oniwaki venue: about 15 minutes by car from Oshidomari Port to Oniwaki Fishing Port (Oniwaki, Rishirifuji). Oshidomari venue: about 5 minutes on foot from Oshidomari Port.
