The Guze Kannon Nensai is a memorial service held every year on May 20 at Kawasaki Daishi (Heikenji) in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. This annual rite honors the bodhisattva Kannon known as Guze Kannon and praises that bodhisattva's blessings, while also praying for the fulfillment of visitors' various wishes. On the day, sutra chanting and sermons are held in the main hall, and prayers are offered for peace and tranquility based on Kannon worship. Kawasaki Daishi holds many other annual rites as well, and throughout the year various Buddhist deities' enshrinement day services are conducted.
Getting there
Access to Kawasaki Daishi: get off at Kawasaki Daishi Station on the Keikyu Daishi Line, about 8 minutes on foot. Alternatively, from JR Kawasaki Station, take a bus and get off at Kawasaki Daishi, which is right there.
