🏮 Esashi Kani Matsuri
枝幸かにまつり
Esashi, Hokkaido (ウスタイベ千畳岩特設会場) · Dates to be confirmed
The Okhotsk Esashi Umaimon Festival is a summer event held at the special venue at Usutaibe Senjōiwa in Esashi Town, Hokkaido, and is the successor to the former Esashi Crab Festival. Organized by the Esashi Town Tourism Association and others, it will mark its third edition in 2026 as a commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Esashi Town's merger. It was previously known as the Esashi Crab Festival, but has now been reborn as a food festival that brings together the region's abundant ingredients, and holds a special place as a commemoration of the town's 20th merger anniversary. On the eve of the festival, fireworks are launched over the Sea of Okhotsk, and at the main festival there are food stalls where visitors can enjoy seafood such as king crab and scallops, a popular crab-eating contest, and a lottery for local specialty products. On stage, there are guest singing shows and a triumphant performance by Mūsōren Esashi, a regular team at the YOSAKOI Soran Festival.
Getting there
About 2 hours 30 minutes by car from Asahikawa via Shibetsu-Kenbuchi IC. About 4 hours 30 minutes from Sapporo via the same route. On the day, free shuttle buses are scheduled to run from within Esashi Town to the venue, and from the special parking lot to the venue.
