The Akkeshi Ayame Festival is held at the Akkeshi-cho Native Flower Garden Ayamegahara in Hokkaido. In Reiwa 8 (2026) it runs for nine days, from June 20 to 28. Admission and parking are free. The venue is about 12 km from the town center and is a 100-hectare native flower garden, also a scenic spot on the North Pacific Seaside Line's "Cape and Flower Mist Highway." The highlight of this festival, now in its 67th year, is the roughly 300,000 Hiogi iris plants blooming across the grounds from mid to late June. From Ayamegahara, situated on a cliff about 100 m above sea level, visitors can look out over the Pacific coastline, taking in both the purple flower fields and the sea panorama. Note that from Reiwa 6 to 8 (2024 to 2026), horse grazing is not carried out due to construction work within the garden.
