It is said to have begun in 1567 when the Sengoku warlord Kobayakawa Takakage built Mihara Castle, and the people of the castle town danced in celebration. It is held every year over the three days of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday including the second Sunday of August, mainly in front of JR Mihara Station.
