The Hiroshima Flower Festival is a major spring event organized by the Hiroshima Flower Festival Executive Committee, held in the Heiwa Odori area of Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, and at Peace Memorial Park, among other venues. Under the theme "A Festival of Flowers Linking Hiroshima and the World," it is held every May. Centered on Hiroshima's wish for peace and on flowers, the event features initiatives related to peace and flowers, including the Peace Flower Project Hanaiku, which began with the belief of filling Hiroshima with flowers. On the first day, a Grand Flower Parade is held on Heiwa Odori, and on the final day a Performance Parade of about 35 teams enlivens the festival. There are also dance and music performances on stage, a tourism and products fair with about 130 food and drink stalls from Japan and overseas, and "hiroba" spaces at various points around the venue, offering a wide range of events.
