The Tsuruga Festival is a summer festival held as the annual festival of Kehi Shrine in Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture, featuring yamaboko (festival float) processions, mikoshi (portable shrine) parades, and traditional performing arts. The origin of the floats is said to date to the late Muromachi period, and a legend remains that Oda Nobunaga viewed them in 1575. Today, six floats parade, and the festival has a history of being revived after the war.
Getting there
About 15 minutes on foot from JR Tsuruga Station, or immediately after getting off at the Tsuruga City Community Bus stop "Kehi Shrine-mae".
