The Towadako Kosui Matsuri is a summer festival held at Lake Towada in Towada City, Aomori Prefecture. In 2026 it will mark its 61st edition, and involves the Lake Towada Tourism Exchange Center and the Towada Oirase Tourism Organization. It runs from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on June 13, and is postponed to the following day, the 14th, in case of bad weather. During the day, an Ichinomiya fair and performances at Mannaka Hiroba are held, and visitors can enjoy walking around the lakeside. At night, balloon lanterns — the Towadako Melty Light — and lake fireworks color Lake Towada, and events such as the Lake Towada night cruise and message fireworks let visitors enjoy the lake surface at night.
Getting there
To the venue at Lake Towada (around Ichinomiya), it is about 40 minutes by car from central Towada City. There are several parking lots along the lakeside. Public transportation is limited, so access by car is convenient.
