Rooms around Goshogawara, Aomori fill up while the festival is on.
Goshogawara Tachineputa is held in Goshogawara, Aomori Prefecture, every year from August 4 to 8, and is one of the three major neputa festivals of Aomori Prefecture, alongside the Aomori Nebuta Festival and the Hirosaki Neputa Festival. Huge floats about 23 meters tall and weighing about 19 tons parade through the city center to the call of "Yattemare! Yattemare!" and vigorous ohayashi (festival music). Each float has its own theme, decorated with detailed modeling and vivid colors, and the floats are characterized by an exquisite balance between the power of the ohayashi and the elegant lighting. About 15 neputa, including three large tachineputa, set out and captivate the roadside with their overwhelming presence. Outside the festival period, the Tachineputa no Yakata museum permanently displays three actual floats that were used, and visitors can view the dynamic whole from a corridor up close.
