The Torigoe Matsuri is held at Torigoe Shrine in Taito Ward, Tokyo, and in the sixth year of Reiwa it takes place on June 6, 7, and 9. The mikoshi (portable shrine) at the center of the festival is called the Sengon Mikoshi, and it is said to be the heaviest in Tokyo. On Sunday the 9th, the parishioners of each town take turns carrying this mikoshi in the watari (procession). At the head of the line walk Sarutahiko (a tengu) and the tekomai troupe, along with five-colored flags carried by children. Toward evening, lanterns on the mikoshi's bow and the town association's tall lanterns are lit, and the festival reaches its peak. This solemn yet otherworldly procession into the shrine is called the Torigoe Night Festival and is a highlight of the festival.
