Kyoto Takigi Noh, staged at Heian Shrine, is a Noh performance held on the nights of June 1 and 2, 2026, and is familiar as a seasonal feature of early summer in Kyoto. It is organized by the Kyoto Nohgaku Association and the City of Kyoto, and begins at 18:00. As dusk falls over the Higashiyama area, bonfires are lit within the grounds and the vermilion shrine buildings are illuminated. On the specially built Noh stage emerging amid the solemn atmosphere, performers from the Kanze, Kongo, and Okura schools perform Noh and kyogen together, drawing the audience into a world of yugen. In case of rain, it will be held at the Rohm Theatre Kyoto Main Hall.
