An annual festival held on February 10 every year at Sugo Ishibe Shrine in Kaga, Ishikawa Prefecture. Its formal name is Gongan Shinji. Designated as an intangible folk cultural property of Ishikawa Prefecture in 1987, it is known for the vigorous ritual of splitting green bamboo within the shrine grounds.
Getting there
From Kaga Onsen Station, take the Kaga sightseeing bus CANBUS Sea Route and get off at the '30 Sugo Ishibe Shrine' bus stop, immediately there. Alternatively, take the IR Ishikawa Railway Line to Daishoji Station and walk about 1.7 km. By car, about 8.9 km from Katayamazu IC on the Hokuriku Expressway, or about 4.8 km from Kaga IC. Temporary parking available.
