Kamogawa Noryo is an event held on the west bank of the Kamo River in Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture, on the riverbed between Sanjo Bridge and Shijo Bridge, on the first Saturday and Sunday of August each year. It is organized by the Kamogawa Noryo Executive Committee, with Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City, the Kyoto Prefecture Tourism Federation, and others involved as constituent organizations. The event was started in 1969 by the 'Kamogawa o Utsukushiku Suru Kai' as part of a campaign to beautify the Kamo River. Since 2014, the current executive committee has taken over as organizer, and in addition to promoting river conservation and environmental protection, it aims to promote tourism and local products within Kyoto Prefecture and across the country. The event is held from evening into night, and along with efforts to preserve the beautiful Kamo River for future generations, it is enjoyed as a summer tradition in Kyoto. The nearest stations are Sanjo Station and Gion-Shijo Station on the Keihan Main Line, and Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line.
