A pottery festival held in the Gojozaka area of Kyoto. It originated in the Taisho era as a pottery market connected to Rokudo Chinno Temple's Rokudo mairi, a ritual for welcoming the spirits of the dead; today it is held as the grand festival of Wakamiya Hachimangu Shrine. This is the birthplace of Kiyomizu ware, and about 400 shops set up stalls, drawing many pottery enthusiasts.
Getting there
Get off at the City Bus stop Gojozaka or Higashiyama Gojo; it is right there. Alternatively, about 10 minutes on foot from Keihan Railway's Kiyomizu-Gojo Station.
