The Autumn Fujiwara Festival is held from November 1 to 3 every year at Chusonji Temple, Motsuji Temple, and other venues in Hiraizumi, Iwate Prefecture, and is an autumn event in Hiraizumi that marks the end of the sightseeing season. The festival begins with a memorial service for the four generations of the Fujiwara clan, and is positioned as an important event that conveys the history and culture of the Oshu Fujiwara clan to the present day. At Chusonji Temple, a chigo procession (children's procession) colors the approach, and Chusonji Noh is dedicated at the outdoor Noh theater. At Motsuji Temple's Pure Land Garden, the Ennen no Mai is performed gracefully, recreating the elegant world of the Heian period. In addition, local performing arts are presented in front of Hiraizumi Station and within the grounds of both temples, captivating visitors.
