In Ibara City, Okayama Prefecture, the Yomeirazu Kannon-in Spring Festival is held each year on the middle day of Higan (the spring and autumn equinox periods). The temple is known for the blessing of living a healthy and happy life without burdening one's daughter-in-law in old age, and the festival is held twice a year, on the spring equinox and the autumn equinox. On the day of the festival, stalls and other vendors line the temple grounds, which are crowded with visitors. The event runs from 9:00 to 16:00. Parking is free for 200 regular cars and 20 large buses, and access is easy from the Sanyo Expressway's Kasaoka Interchange or from Ibara Station on the Ibara Line.
Getting there
By car: about 15 minutes north from the Sanyo Expressway's Kasaoka Interchange. By train: get off at Ibara Station on the Ibara Line, then about 7 minutes by city loop bus.
