A ritual passed down since the Edo period in the Horiage district of Shimadachi, Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, and designated a Nagano Prefecture intangible folk cultural property in 1988. After the rice planting, local elementary school boys walk along the footpaths between the fields wearing rokushaku fundoshi (traditional loincloths), praying for a good harvest and the warding off of disease.
