Kimoto Matsuri is an annual festival held at Kimoto Shrine in Kumano, Mie Prefecture, on the second Sunday of October. Various yamaboko (festival floats) come out from each district of the town, and a mikoshi (portable shrine) carrying the deity, known by the nickname "abare mikoshi" (rampaging mikoshi), is paraded through the town. The festival is an event that carries on the history and traditions of Kimoto, a town that prospered as territory of the Kishu Tokugawa family during the Edo period.
