This is a festival of Kasuga Taisha's subsidiary shrine Wakamiya Shrine, held around Nara Park over several days each year centered on December 17. It is designated a national Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. At the On Matsuri, sacred performing arts such as sarugaku (Noh), gagaku (court music), kagura (Shinto music and dance), and bugaku (court dance) are offered to the deities.

Getting there

Get off at the Nara Kotsu bus stop "Kasuga Taisha Honden-mae," or about 20 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Nara Station.
