Hakozaki Shrine's Hojoe, counted alongside Hakata Dontaku and Hakata Gion Yamakasa as one of Hakata's three great festivals, is a celebration that shows compassion for all life, forbids the taking of life, and gives thanks for the autumn harvest. Over seven days from September 12 to 18, various Shinto rituals and festive events are held, and many street stalls line the approach to the shrine.
Getting there
The nearest stations are Hakozaki Station on the JR Kagoshima Main Line, or Hakozakigu-mae Station on the Subway Hakozaki Line. About 10 minutes on foot. By car, take National Route 3 to the parking lot.
