Toryu is one of the constituent nagare (groups) that organize the Hakata Gion Yamakasa and Hakata Matsubayashi (Hakata Dontaku) festivals, with its area along the former Higashimachi-dori in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City. In the Hakata Gion Yamakasa, it erects both a kakiyama (carried float) and a kazariyama (decorated float) at the Gofukumachi intersection, and those who have reached their 60th year wear a red loincloth and a reddish-lettered mizu happi (water coat) during the taryu-kaki (other-group carrying) on July 11.

Getting there

The kazariyama 'Toryu' is displayed in the 1st-floor lobby of the Gofukumachi Business Center Building, just outside Exit 5 of Gofukumachi Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Hakozaki Line.
