The Kishu Kudoyama Sanada Festival is held every year in May at the lawn plaza of the roadside station Kaki no Sato Kudoyama in Kudoyama, Wakayama Prefecture, organized by the Kudoyama Sanada Festival Executive Committee. Kudoyama is known as a place connected to Lord Sanada Yukimura, and the festival features a warrior procession led by Lords Sanada Masayuki, Yukimura, Akane, and Daisuke, with the Sanada Ten Braves, including Sarutobi Sasuke and Kirigakure Saizo, appearing as well. Highlights include powerful performances such as gun corps demonstrations by the Kishu Kudoyama Sanada Gun Corps and the Shinshu Sanada Gun Corps, a demonstration by the Kishu Kudoyama Sanada Warrior Corps, and the Sanada Departure Drum by the Kishu Kudoyama Sanada Drum Preservation Society. A live performance of "Sanada Monogatari" by Oka Noboru is also held, and the warrior procession parades through the streets of Kudoyama.
Getting there
20 minutes on foot from Kudoyama Station on the Nankai Koya Line. Traffic restrictions are in place around the roadside station; use the temporary parking lots (P1–P5).
