The Minamisatsuma Jugoya event is held in southern Satsuma Peninsula, including Minamisatsuma City, Kagoshima Prefecture, to celebrate Jugoya on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. A rope over 100 meters long is made, and a group of boys compete in a tug-of-war naked. A Jugoya dance by the boys' group is also performed, and in Chiran Town in particular it is called "Sorayoi," featuring dancers wearing straw umbrellas, mino (straw raincoats), and hakama.
Getting there
Held in Bonotsu Town, Minamisatsuma City. There is no nearest station, so access is mainly by car. About 15 minutes from Kaseda city area.
